What will the season look like?

We anticipate to have a regular core fall season as in past years.  However, covid related restrictions and rules may still be in place and we will follow all required such guidance.  A typical fall season has the following structure:

U10 and older: Practice twice weekly, with competitive games on Saturday.

U6 and U8:  Practice once weekly, with competitive games on Saturday.

Who will coach?

You!  Coaching is fun and enriching for both the players and coaches.  Most of the coaching training is on line and takes a few hours.  We have mentors available for first year coaches.  We will do everything we can to help you and your players have fun.  We will have in person coach training on August 7, 2021 and August 14, 2021.

Without volunteers we are not able form teams and play.  WE WANT YOU!!!

We’re an organization of volunteers and need coaches, assistant coaches, team parents and several referees for each team. provide free training for new coaches and referees and no prior soccer experience is required.  We also provide free training for advancing coaches and referees.  Most is on line and at your own pace.

What day and time will the practice be for my child?

Practices are Monday through Thursday typically from 5 pm to 8 pm.  Practice days and times will be decided by the availability of the coach that your child is assigned to.

How often will we have practice?

Depends on the age group.  6U and 8U practices 1 time per week.  10U and above practices 2 times per week.

Will there be Walk-In registration?

No, registration will be online only this year.

What are the Age Division Guidelines for 2021-2022?

BIRTH YEAR                         DIVISION

        2016                                U6

 2014 & 2015                           U8

 2012 & 2013                           U10

 2010 & 2011                           U12

 2003 – 2007                           COED UPPER DIVISION

When and where will games be played?

Games are on Saturdays.  Rain or shine we play.  Our games are typically at Horsethief Canyon Park,  Ramona Middle School, Bonita High School, San Dimas High School, Live Oak Park.  Depends on how many teams we have in age group and what facilities we have access to.  We will know more as we near the September 11 kick off date.

Can I request a specific coach?

Because all teams of certain age groups practice at the same field and time, coach requests due to transportation are not critical. However, we do understand that friends often wish to play together.  Coach requests will be considered but are not guaranteed.  For a coach request to be considered, you must submit it on your registration form in the notes section.  The only guaranteed players on a team are the Head and Assistant coaches children.  We will do our best to honor requests, but please understand that we have a responsibility to our "Balanced Teams" philosophy over all else.

What about covid?

We anticipate to have a more typical fall core program.  BUT … We do not know what regulations and requirements will be in place when we begin the fall core program.  We will follow all required guidance and requirements as required by our field use permits.  We will do everything possible for the safety and welfare of our players and volunteers and their families.  Guidelines keep evolving and we follow the City of La Verne and San Dimas requirements and they follow the LA County requirements that can be found at http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/docs/protocols/Reopening_YouthSports.pdf

Can my child and a friend/neighbor/etc. be on the same team?

We  use an automated system to assign players to teams to make them fair and fun and can not guarantee that friends/neighbors/etc. will be on the same team.

Will you have EXTRA teams?

Not this year.

As we reflect back on 2020 and the challenges that we all faced, we have come to realize that we need to rebuild, refocus and reinvest in our region’s most valuable assets – the players and the volunteers. As we emerge into a new chapter post-COVID, Region 112 wants to redirect our attention and resources to one of AYSO’s Philosophies – Player Development.

Therefore, Region 112 has decided to postpone the EXTRA Program for one year so that we can rebuild our Core Program to focus on the fundamentals of player development, skills building, training, coach training and education. We feel that by investing our time and efforts in the Core Program, this will result in a stronger player development program, stronger coach training and education program, and rebuild our referee resources.  All 3 of these key elements are necessary to help everyone involved be more successful – as a player, as a volunteer, and as an individual.

We appreciate the time and effort you expended at EXTRA tryouts this summer. We were so excited to see so many players interested in the Program and their dedication to our wonderful sport. We feel that by postponing the EXTRA Program to 2022, we will be able to produce a strong, competitive EXTRA Program for Region 112 next year.

SCHOOLYARD JAMBOREE PROGRAM IS COMING!

I am pleased to announce that we will start a Schoolyard Jamboree program this year.  This is new for us and will require all parents to participate in the program.  For us to do this we will need parents to be trained in the program.  We will open a waitlist for this program on June 25th and will start assigning training groups as we get certified parents.  Certification is easy and the training is online and should take a few hours at most.  More on this program can be found at https://ayso.org/play/schoolyard-jamboree/.

How do I complete the training for the SCHOOLYARD JAMBOREE PROGRAM?

GO TO OUR WEBSITE  https://www.ayso112.org/ AND IN THE TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER  SET UP AN ACCOUNT AND REGISTER YOUR CHILD ... THERE WILL BE NO PROGRAMS AVAILABLE YET  (REGISTRATION OPENS JUNE 25 FOR THIS PROGRAM) ... NEXT CLICK ON THE VOLUNTEER TAB ON THE LEFT AND COMPLETE THAT PROCESS ... ONCE DONE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO CLICK ON THE AYSOU TAB ON THE MAIN HOME SCREEN OF OUR WEBSITE AND GO THERE TO TAKE THE COURSE ... YOU WILL NEED TO GO INTO:  ONLINE COURSES - COACHING COURSES - PLAYGROUND AND SCHOOLYARD SOCCER PROGRAM LEADER

What is the length of the games?

The length of game is dependent on the age division your child plays in, Here is a good estimate of game durations:
6U   • <40 minutes
8U   • 40 minutes
10U • 50 minutes
12U • 60 minutes
14U • 70 minutes
16U • 80 minutes
19U • 80 minutes

What size soccer ball will my child need?

8U and below • Size 3 ball
10U thru 12U • Size 4 ball
14U and above • Size 5 ball

What do we need to bring to practices and games?

Shin guards (required), closed toed tennis shoes, a soccer ball, uniform (games only) and water.  Also, bringing a well rested, well hydrated, nutritionally balanced child with a positive attitude and willingness to learn is highly recommended!  (Soccer shoes are not mandatory but are highly recommended (regular athletic shoes with no cleats are the alternative). When buying soccer shoes, they cannot have a toe cleat (baseball shoes have a toe cleat). Generally speaking, nearly all players at all age levels use soccer shoes for practices and games.)

Why can the players not wear jewelry and other items?

Jewelry of any kind (necklaces, watches, earrings, rings, bracelets, etc.) cannot be worn during practice or games.  There is an exception for Med-Alert bracelets, but they must be completely covered with tape or a soft cloth band for the safety of your child and all the other players.  Players may not wear casts or splints which could possibly cause injury to himself/herself or another player. NO EXCEPTIONS. This applies at the games as well as at practices.  Glasses, hearing aids, and med-alerts may be worn to practices and games. The use of an eyeglass holder/strap or sports-glasses is recommended.  Any hair accessories should not be made of metal or plastic, and should not be rigid. Soft hair accessories such as “scrunchies” and soft rubber bands are recommended and acceptable.  Knee braces and other soft support wraps are allowed if the referee deems them to be safe.

Can dogs be brought to games or practices?

No! Dogs are not allowed at any AYSO practices or games. If you bring your dogs to an AYSO field, you will be asked to remove the dog and/or leave. We love our pets too, but this is not the place for them. And yes, we understand she's just a little lap dog, but we can't make any exceptions on this one.

How are teams formed?

We follow one of AYSO's core principles when forming teams:  Balanced Teams.  This means that teams are formed as balanced as possible based on the following criteria (when available), in order: (1) ratings from coach from prior year, (2) years of soccer experience, (3) school grade (in multi-grade divisions), and (4) gender (for co-ed divisions).

When will I be notified of practices and games?

Registration will close on July 15, 2021.  We will than begin the process of forming teams.  During the first week of August we will have mandatory skills testing for 8U and above.  This will help us form balanced teams.  Once teams are formed coaches will be assigned.  This all means that coaches should be contacting you sometime during the week of August 9th.  If you've not heard from your coach, PLEASE BE PATIENT. He or she is working hard to get ready for the season.

What do I do if I think a referee is not making the right calls?

The referee is a volunteer who is doing the best job they can, so it's really important that parents, coaches and players treat them with respect. Criticizing our volunteers during a game or on our fields is not permitted.  We urge you to sign up as a referee and we will provide you with all the training.

When will game schedules be available?

Many factors impact the ability to complete this task. Player drops and adds are the greatest challenge we face. When players add or drop from the program due to any reason, this impacts our ability to finalize teams and complete the schedule because it may require team restructuring. We do everything in our power to release the schedule as soon as possible as we know that families have busy schedules.  We will work on these once all teams have been formed and we know how many players and teams and coaches we have.  They will be published to the coaches as soon as we can but most likely sometime during the first week of September 2021.

We hope to see you once again on the pitch this fall.
