Referee |
A1. First you must be a certified referee. If you want to become a certified referee check our referee program page. If you are a referee you go to the site and follow the instructions to request a user ID.
Once you have your ID and pass code and the administrator has approved your request you go to http://www.cgisports.com/ayso112/ref.cgi and enter them in the appropriate boxes. Note that both are case sensitive.
Q2. It tells me the system is not available.
A2. There will be periods of time when the web administrator needs to lock out the system to do database maintenance. Check back in a few hours.
Q3. How do I search for a game?
A3. To search for a game you must search the database. On the search page chose criteria applicable to the game(s) you are interested in. If you pick search criteria and get something about no matches found try searching again with fewer criteria. We would recommend selecting only a division and date.
Q4. How does this work with the referee point system?
A4. The primary purpose of this system is to make the job of scheduling referees to work games easier for both the referee and the scheduler. The 2004 referee point system uses the game cards to count games worked and only uses this system to clarify the game cards.
When you fill out the game cards remember to:
- Print legibly
- Include the division and team number you want the game to be counted towards. (such as U10G #1 or U10G01)
Q5. How far in advance can I sign up for a game?
A5. At the present time we are trying to have available in the system the games for the next two Saturdays.
Q6. Why are there two different color headers?
A6. Since two weeks worth of games are available on the schedule we have color coded the weeks, one in blue and one in green, to make it easier to distinguish which week you are signing up for.
Q7. Last year I could sign up my whole ref team at the same time and this year I can't?
A7. The old ref system (2003) permitted one user to sign up their whole ref team with one logon. This year (2004) we have upgraded to an improved system that provides several new features. Unfortunately, one of the requirements of the new system is that you can only sign up yourself when you are logged in, and then you must use either your user ID or your full name exactly as it is listed in your user profile.
Q8. There is an upgraded system in 2004. What are it's advantages and disadvantages?
A8. The upgraded system has several advantages for the individual referees. You can register yourself with the system beginning at the login screen and you can have forgotten ID's and passwords e-mailed to you from the login screen if you have an e-mail on record in your user profile. In addition, by including an e-mail address in your profile a confirmation of your assignment will be e-mailed to you. To update or modify your user profile you can click on the link at the bottom of almost any screen. The big disadvantage is that now a user may only sign themselves up for games. You may not sign up other members of your referee team under your login.
