Additional Resources |
In order to use the on-line training resources you need to have an AYSO ID number:
You may register at www.eayso.org . Once you have registered, then you may request your AYSO ID number from the coach administrator, the CVPA or your division coordinator.
The Safe Haven program instructs volunteers in ways to provide a healthy and positive environment in which children can learn and enjoy the game of soccer. The training is required for all coaches and other volunteers in a coaching role, such as assistant coaches, team parents, and team managers who work with youth coaches.
This is an online class. It takes less than an hour.
Start at www.aysotraining.org/index.htm
New this year: You may take the ‘classroom instruction’ online for U8 and U10 coach certification. PRINT OUT THE certificate at the end and bring it to any of the evening age appropriate coach clinics. We will cover only the “FIELD TRAINING” at the evening classes (unless otherwise noted) but you MUST have taken the online course at least 24 hours before the evening coach clinic. And, you MUST bring your certificate of completion.
Division specific training also starts at www.aysotraining.org/index.htm
Remember, age-appropriate coach training, and Safe Haven Certification is REQUIRED to coach AYSO soccer. AYSO has a goal of 100% coach certification. Every coach or assistant coach must have the Safe Haven qualification and is strongly encouraged to attend the appropriate age-specific training. Even if you are an experienced soccer player, you must attend the coach training to be covered by the Volunteer Protection Act. The Safe Haven and Age-specific coach training courses need only be taken once, although anyone is welcome to re-attend to refresh their knowledge.
Most of the time at the age-specific training will be spent on the soccer field. Participants need not have had any previous soccer experience or coaching experience, but should be prepared to learn by doing. Participants should wear sports clothing (shorts rather than jeans are highly recommended) and bring athletic shoes or soccer shoes, shin guards, water, sun screen, a soccer ball and note-taking materials. Lunch will be provided at each of the all-day courses.
