There are five basic skills in passing:
Disguise
Pass Selection
Timing of the release of the ball
Weighting, or pacing, of the ball

Passing can be broken down into approximately six different techniques:
Push Pass
Instep Pass
Passing with the Inside & Outside of the foot
Lofted Passes:
Instep
Outside of the foot
Inside of the foot
Volleys:
Straight approach
Sideways approach
Chip Pass
COACHING POINTS
Players should understand that field conditions affect the kinds of passes required. They should know what sort of pass to use in any given condition.
Is the receiver ready?
Is the receiver prepared?
Is the receiver making eye contact?
Is the receiver moving to receive the ball?
Are players away from the ball keeping the defender occupied?
Are the players away from the ball pulling defenders out of position?
Are the players away from the ball running as decoys?
Are the passes going to the correct side of the receiver so that a defender is screened?
How are the players’ selections of the correct techniques for given situations.
