IMPORTANT!!!

All coaches and assistant coaches need to be certified under AYSO's CL1 program. This is a mandatory certification. No coach or assistant coach will be allowed to coach until they have completed this course. Please see the table below for class schedules. If you planning to apply to be a Spring Select Coach, you must be Safe Haven (CL1) certified. If you have any questions, please contact the chief coach at 909-596-5722 or e-mail the chief coach.

We have put together some information for all our volunteer coaches. You will find coaching clinic information, schedules and general information concerning coaching soccer.

One thing to remember, if a child on your team changes their phone number, address etc. please notify the registrar immediately.

ID Badges

Referees are to check at the beginning of each game, if the coach and asst. coach have their ID Badge displayed. If a coach does not have their ID badge with them, forgot it, etc., then the ref should instruct him/her that they cannot coach for that specific game. They must take a seat like the rest of the parents. The Asst. coach will them assume the head coach role. If both coaches have forgot their Id badge, then both coaches must sit down and no coach will be involved in the game. The only thing the coaches can do at this point is to ensure that the correct substitution pattern is being followed. However, no coaching. If a coach refuses to sit down after forgetting his/her ID badge and after instruction from the referee, the ref should mark the game card and inform the Ref. Administrator indicating which coach refused. AYSO will take the matter from there.

The registration fee covers the uniform (shirt, shorts, socks). The fee does not cover shin guards or soccer shoes. Shin guards are mandatory at both practices and games. Soccer shoes are mandatory. Metal cleated soccer shoes are not permitted.

Later in the season, we recommend that the player have a sweatshirt and sweat pants for before and after the game, as well as when the player is sitting out for a quarter. Often, teams get together to order a team sweatshirt.

We strongly recommend every player have their own soccer ball. Mark it with your name and phone number. Ball sizes are as follows:

Safety Concerns!

One of our main concerns in AYSO is to provide a safe and positive environment for our kids to participate in. This is why we hold several coaching and referee clinics to help our volunteers understand the needs of children and to provide knowledge and expertise on the game of soccer. These clinics help provide our volunteers with the necessary tools with which to coach and referee the game of soccer. More importantly, they provide the necessary knowledge with which to work with children of all ages. It is very important that all parents and AYSO volunteers conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. Coaches! Please remember, once the ref blows the whistle your kids will forget everything you have just told them about what to do in the game. If they did not learn it in practice they will not learn it in a game by you or your parents shouting at them. Let the kids play and make their own mistakes. They need to learn what works and does not work on their own. Minimal coaching from the sidelines concerning positioning, changes in strategy (for example, switching the point of attack from the left side of the field to the right ) etc. is fine. Please!!! Lets stop the constant yelling of "shoot the ball", "kick the ball", "get him/her", etc. they are not only pointless but negative and destructive. Parents need to let the coach, coach the team and the referee, ref the game. DO NOT yell at the referee if you feel he/she has made a bad call!! He/she is human and will make mistakes. Remember, if the referee was your 12 or 14 year old child, would you like an angry adult screaming and yelling at them!!!

Coaches and parents you need to remember that these kids are just that, KIDS! And should be treated with the appropriate level of care and concern. This is a very important issue and goes to the core of what AYSO stands for. We are here to provide theses kids with a fun, safe and positive environment with which to grow and develop themselves through the game of soccer. If you are struggling to reach these goals, please contact the chief coach or your division coordinator for help.

Offenders of these standards will be dealt with in an strict manner.
